If you are like me, you wish for a pause button in life. Press pause to enjoy sweet moments in time. Firmly pause so they will never fade away.
Perhaps we do have a pause button, but we don’t take the time to find a remote control. How can we press pause without a remote? Have you ever spent ten minutes searching for that mysterious device when all you had to do was stand up and press a button on the television? I’m guilty of it.
Pauses require effort.
If we really want to savor those pause moments in life we need to be intentional, we need to be prepared. The remote should be in our hand, not hidden away under the couch.
I’m thinking that since many of us have access to a smartphone why not use it as our pause button in life.
Grab that camera and take a picture of a:
- chocolate grin
- snail creeping along grassy path
- tree blossom floating in air
- mischievous smile
- splashing puddle with jumping feet
Record the sounds of:
- teeth chomping upon birthday cake
- feet stomping in Daddy’s boots
- water splashed from summer pool
- songs sung from hearts so young
- birds singing the day anew
Video record:
- happy feet dancing
- banana-split feasts
- baking of pies with ingredients awry
- Shakespearian plays reenacted in tiny tones
- long away looks into tomorrows yet unknown
Of course, you can text, write, Instagram, Facebook way into memories-but some memories, well, some are so dear you want them to linger in your heart. You want them to stay with you for a moment longer before they are released upon the world.
